The Magic Kingdom is divided into seven unique themed areas, or “lands,” arranged in a circle, with all of them meeting at the top of Main Street USA, right in front of the hugely impressive and jaw dropping Cinderella Castle. Pathways lead visitors from the hub of the action at the castle to the various lands. Main Street USA is inspired by Walt Disney’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri. The interior of the castle has an amazing display of colorful murals made of a mixure of handcut Italian glass and 14 karat gold pieces. FantasyLand is the place where the child in all of us whats to visit. Across the bridge from Cinderella Castle is Liberty Square, which pays tribute to the nation’s colonial heritage and is home to the Hall of Presidents. The History of The Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom first opened its’ gates to the public in 1971, and has remained the “King of Theme Parks” ever since. Walt Disney searched the East Coast of Florida for the very best location for this second theme park, and eventually decided on Orlando. In 1964, Walt Disney began purchasing huge plots of land in teh Orlando area, and in 1965 he announced that he would be building the world’s most amazing and outlandish theme park, fashioned after Disney Land in California. Walt Disney sadly passed away in 1966 and so was unfortunatly never able to see his dream come to life, but today The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Orlando, Florida continues to attract more visitors than any other theme park in the world. Well done Walt Disney!
